Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect in psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a type of treatment that addresses mental health issues that heavily impact your everyday life. A mental health therapist (such as myself) will meet with you and help you identify and process your feelings, teach coping skills to manage your emotions and behaviors, and provide you with suggestions based on his/her knowledge and training to help improve you mental health. All of this is done in a non-judgmental and empowering safe space. Anyone could benefit from therapy; all you need is a willingness to actively work on improving your mental health.

What can I expect in my first session?

Typically in an intake session, we will discuss confidentiality, review your intake forms, and get into your story. During this session, I will ask you questions about your problems, your family, and overall mental health. You will not be required to share anything you don’t feel comfortable sharing and we will work at your own pace.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?

Clients have 24 hours before their scheduled session to cancel/reschedule their appointment. I also have a 10-min no-show rule, which gives you an additional window of time to cancel your session. However, after 10 minutes without notice, your appointment will be cancelled. For the first session missed, I will send you a follow up email as a courtesy and provide you with next steps to waive my no-show fee. All subsequent no-shows will be charged an $80 no show fee. You may reach out to cancel your session via phone, text, call, or email.

You don’t take my insurance. Do you have out of network costs and/or a sliding scale?

Yes. My private pay rate is $150 and I do offer a sliding scale with limited slots available. Please reach out to me for more information on my sliding scale rate.

What if we’re not a good fit?

That’s okay! Therapy is an important step and it is essential to have a therapist that you can relate to. If you feel like we’re not a good fit for any reason, I would be more than happy to refer you to another therapist and/or terminate our sessions.

How long will our sessions be?

Sessions are 60 minutes, either weekly or biweekly. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy. Short-term therapy is between 3-6 months, while long-term therapy is anything over 6 months. Duration of therapy will be discussed during sessions.

Do you prescribe medication?

No, but I can refer you to a psychiatrist who can if you are a candidate for medication.

Do you offer couples or family therapy?

Not at this time. Revive & Thrive Counseling only offers individual counseling.
